My name is Nora Rodriguez-Cortez, my business is a home base business. Let me tell you a little bit about Hannah’s and Mia’s Little Secrets.
On maternity leave with my youngest child, which by the way she’ll be 18 and a senior in High School, I decided I needed to generate some extra income to the household.
I started with be dazzling my two oldest girls jean jackets and hair clips. They were well-known in school for what their mommy bedazzled, then I decided to do Cake Topper and Boutonnieres. I did Cake Topper for all occasion. I gradually work my way up to other things.
Art & Crafts was the thing I most love doing. I then went into personalizing event. I learned how to do diaper cake and I will make a diaper cake to fit your theme.
My eldest granddaughter at the age of 5 asked me to do some cupcake, I never took a baking class, everything I’ve learned, I learned through reading and looking at tutorials. I learned how to pipe and I still need learning when it comes to piping, from there I learned the making of cake pops. I maneuver the cake pop pretty good, I’ve even made Fancy Pops. Party Planning Connection, like my “Lady Bug” cake pops so much, they invited me to join their registry.
I was asked a couple of months ago, do I do tutus, I have never made it a tutu. So I went and started my “Little’s Collection”. Tutus with head-pieces, hey why not?. I loved doing the head-pieces, I went on to doing head-pieces for adults, which I love. I will do a one-of-a-kind head-piece.
I was invited to attend, Fashion Week Brooklyn in Oct 2013. From there, I started to think outside the box with the head-pieces. I designed a gray and Silver Couture head-piece, I’ve gotten great reviews and a Shoe Designer has gotten in contact with me to design a Christmas head-piece for her show,
One more thing about Hannah’s and Mia’s we recycle. I will not throw anything away. From left over tulle for my tutus, I manage to make hair clips.
